The global neuroscience community gathered at Hotel Yak and Yeti for the highly anticipated launch of NEUROCON-II, a two-day international conference exploring evolving trends in brain science and surgery.
The conference was hosted by the Upendra Devkota Foundation, has brought together over 130 experts from 25 countries to share knowledge, strengthen networks, and discuss advances across 30+ neurosurgical disciplines.
The event began with a powerful plenary session featuring world-renowned speakers, including internationally-renowned neurosurgeons Dr. Sarat Chandra and Dr. Bassel Zebian. Topics ranged from innovations in neuroendoscopy to the role of AI in imaging and surgical precision. Alongside scientific sessions, the platform also hosted career-defining learning opportunities for over 60 young professionals.

NEUROCON–II is structured to foster deep interdisciplinary learning, featuring sessions on pediatric neurosurgery, stroke, neuro-oncology, and trend-changing surgical practices. The conference is seen as a gateway for Nepal’s growing role in the global medical community.
The two-day event also serves as a launchpad for broader collaboration between South Asia and global partners, with organizers emphasizing that such scientific gatherings mark Nepal’s rising credibility in hosting high-level academic events.

NEUROCON is held every two years. In a solemn and moving tribute, the gathering honored the late Dr. Upendra Devkota, Nepal’s pioneering neurosurgeon. His enduring contributions to neuro-healthcare and education in the region were acknowledged as the foundation that enabled Nepal to host such a prestigious international forum.

The first edition was held on June 18, 2023, starting a multi-disciplinary dialogue about the trends, innovations, and evolution of neuroscience. With this edition, the conference is reaffirming its place as a vital forum for shaping the future of neuroscience with this edition.
