UNDP Nepal has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the operation and management of three hydrological stations and one meteorological station located in Nalgad Municipality, Barekot Rural Municipality of Jajarkot district, and Tripurasundari Municipality of Dolpa district, Karnali Province. This initiative aims to support the early warning system (EWS) within the Thuli Bheri River basin.

This project, "Urban Preparedness, Earthquake Preparedness and Response in Western Region of Nepal (SUPER II)", receives funding from the Government of Japan. It has been collaboratively implemented with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), and the project municipalities; Barekot Rural Municipality and Nalgad Municipality of Jajarkot District. This effort aligns with Nepal's vision for a risk-resilient society and its commitments to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Paris Agreement, NDC targets, and the National Adaptation Plan (NAP).

A telemetrysystem for flood early warning has been installed in the Thuli Bheri River basin. This includes three hydrological stations situated at Trivenighat (Nalgad Municipality) and Tripurakot (Tripurasundari Municipality) on the Thuli Bheri River, and Raulakhet (Barekot Rural Municipality) on the Nalgad River. Additionally, one meteorological station is located in Dalli (Nalgad Municipality). This system facilitates flood monitoring and forecasting by measuring essential hydrological and meteorological parameters.

The selected organization will be responsible for the daily operation and management of these hydro-met stations. Key responsibilities include facilitating daily and monthly data submission to DHM, providing orientation to gauge readers on data collection protocols, and ensuring the proper dissemination, security, and maintenance of the equipment.t
