Marketing Strategy for Nepal Tourism Board

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Nepal has launched a Request for Proposal (RFP) inviting firms to develop a comprehensive international marketing strategy and five-year action plan for the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The goal is to strengthen Nepal’s global tourism image and attract more international visitors.

This initiative is part of UNDP Nepal’s broader support to national partners in promoting sustainable economic development and strengthening sector-specific strategies like tourism.

Scope of Work

The selected firm will design a forward-looking, results-oriented marketing strategy to position Nepal as a top travel destination globally.

Specific Deliverables/Requirements

• Conduct a detailed assessment of international tourism markets and stakeholders
• Identify target countries and ideal communication channels
• Develop a full strategic marketing plan with measurable goals
• Design a five-year action roadmap
• Recommend branding, outreach, and media strategies
• Align outputs with UNDP and NTB’s development goals

Key Responsibilities

The selected firm will lead the strategy creation process in close coordination with NTB and UNDP Nepal.

• Facilitate consultations and research activities
• Produce a comprehensive strategy document and action plan
• Deliver presentations and updates throughout the project cycle

Qualifications and Experience

Eligible firms must demonstrate proven success in delivering tourism marketing strategies at the national or international level.

• Minimum five years of experience in tourism promotion and strategic planning
• Experience working with governments, multilateral agencies, or tourism boards

Team Expertise

The proposal should include a diverse and skilled team.

• Lead Strategist: Expertise in tourism marketing and planning
• Sector Specialist: Knowledge of South Asian and global tourism trends
• Communications Expert: Branding, media, and outreach experience
